About | Courses | Faculty | Print
At Upper Iowa University, the key to success in the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) is hands-on-experience, complemented by coursework with strong academic content. You will be involved in preventing and caring for injuries, record keeping, rehabilitating and conditioning athletes, as well as fitting and maintaining protective athletic equipment.
As a student, you will be exposed to many aspects of organization and administration of the ATEP while utilizing the Certified Athletic Training Staff as a resource. This wide range of experience enhances the total development of your skills. You will also get the opportunity to work with NCAA Division II men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletics.
As a certified athletic trainer, you will work under the direction of a licensed physician and coordinate medical services with a variety of allied health care professionals. You have the opportunity to work in a variety of settings including, but not limited to: secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports, performing arts, sports medicine clinics, hospitals and physician extender opportunities, military and law enforcement and industrial and commercial settings.
