Benjamin Cooper's father, Steve Cooper (right), accepted the UIU Alumni
Award for Service to Country on behalf of his son, who is currently serving

UIU Alumni Award for Service to Country
Benjamin Jeremy Cooper graduated from the UIU Fayette Campus in 1998 with a degree in marketing. He entered the telecommunications industry working for Nextel and was successful during this venture receiving several awards. He felt he still was lacking some satisfaction in life. Ben joined the Navy in late 2001. His dedication to the US Navy has led to great success. He is a member of the EA-18G Program based out of Whidbey Island, Washington State. Ben has served on several tours. His most recent accomplishment is graduating from one of the Navy's top programs for pilots, "TOPGUN." Jarrad Jones '00 who nominated Ben wrote, "Ben is an unbelievably good human being and represents the true value of being an alumni of UIU. UIU should be honored to have this individual represent the University in all his endeavors with the US Navy." Ben is currently deployed overseas with the Navy.
Receiving the award on his behalf was his father Steve Cooper.
