Professional Education Requirements
Candidates for an initial teaching license must complete a major in elementary education or a minimum 30 semester credit major in a teaching subject area. Candidates must complete the following approved professional education courses: Foundations of American Education; Human Growth, Development and Guidance; Assessment and Psychology; Diversity for Teachers; Field Experience I and II, elementary; or Field Experience I and II, secondary; or Field Experience I and II, elementary/secondary; Methods (birth-elementary and/or secondary); Computers and Instructional Technology; Exceptional Persons; Content Area Literacy (secondary); Individual Behavior and Classroom Management; a methods course in each area of endorsement (secondary); and student teaching.
