"Ever since I was a young boy, I would take all my parents' old appliances like remotes, toasters, and of course computers, and take them apart, examining every little piece and aspect of the appliance and try and put them back together (with some success!) I transferred to UIU for the IT program after hearing about it and reading about. I appreciate the "family atmosphere," where classes are small and professors know you by name...and remember it day after day! Sure, professors here are super busy, but if you are struggling with something or just want to have a chat, they will take the time and sit down with you. Something you will only find at a state school if you are helping a professor do research. The IT major here is part adventure. We go on field trips, like to IBM in Rochester, MN and have guest lectures, like Cathy Brune, CIO of Allstate Insurance, come in and tell us about the benefits of being in the field of IT, and we learn from someone who spent more than 25 years in the IT field doing what he’s teaching. I very excited to earn a B.S. in Information Technology, I am even more excited to start job hunting and obtaining a job in the field of IT!"
