Transcending the Figure
MOBERG GALLERY, Des Moines, IA, The Moberg Gallery has curated a dynamic figurative exhibition from their collection of contemporary artists from across the nation and region. Moberg Gallery opened on Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines in 2003 and represents over 30 artists from the region, working in different media and in different styles.
Throughout the history of art, the human figure has continued to preoccupy artists. The figure become the heart of the artists working approach, often in a unique form, is mankind and the knowledge of human mental and physical shapes. The Bing Davis Memorial Galley at Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa is pleased to exhibit Transcending the Figure: curated by the Moberg Gallery of Des Moines, IA. The Moberg Gallery is one of the premier art galleries in Iowa. Moberg Gallery opened their doors in 2003, and represents over 30 artists from the region and nation in different media and styles.
This dynamic figurative exhibition is a collection of contemporary artists from across the nation. Works in the exhibition will range from the photo realistic paintings by Larrissa Kabel (Iowa) to the fragmented, seductive “body as landscape” installations by Tracy Duran (Las Vegas, NV). The show will feature works by Larassa Kabel, Catherine Dreiss, Tracy Duran, Jeffery Thompson, Frank Hansen, John Phillip Davis, Ignatius Widiapradja, Chris Vance and Anthony Pontius
