Regional Director – South Central Region – KS or LA (Internal Search)

Upper Iowa University is conducting an internal search for an individual to assume the position of Regional Director-South Central Region.

The regional director is responsible for the oversight and management of center operations within the South Central Region in collaboration with the Center Directors ensuring program quality while working to increase enrollments.  Experience working with Military students in an advisory capacity required.  Travel is required, must be willing to travel over a three state region on a regular basis. Requires a minimum of three years’ experience in managing and supervising employees successfully.  Attention to detail and problem solving ability, entrepreneurial experience, marketing background or experience, and student service focused are expected. Five years of experience working in an operational role within higher education preferred. Experience in managing a center or other educational facility required. Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences – Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University invites applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematical Sciences on the residential campus in Fayette, Iowa with a start date of August 2017. This is an academic-year position with a 24-credit teaching requirement in two semesters. Teaching assignments are predominantly face-to-face on the Fayette campus, and may include hybrid, online, domestic center, and international center modalities, as needed. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

We seek a mathematical scientist with expertise in statistics, applied mathematics or engineering and a deep interest in student-centered teaching at the undergraduate level who will contribute to an environment in which diversity is respected, encouraged and nurtured. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching. This position will complement existing faculty strengths in a small interdisciplinary department, and contribute to our curricula and programs. Interest in interdisciplinary collaborations and applications of mathematics and statistics beyond the candidate's area of specialization will be especially welcomed.

A Ph.D. is required in Mathematics, Statistics or a field within the mathematical sciences, applied mathematics or quantitative sciences, such as engineering or operations research. The successful candidate will teach the following courses: Elementary Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, a course in the calculus sequence; and based on expertise, additional topics may be taught in either the lower or upper division courses. The successful applicant will be interested in working within a small, dynamic, and interdisciplinary department in an innovative university. Instructional Technologist – Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University is seeking a full-time Instructional Technologist in Academic Affairs.  The position is located in Fayette, IA.  The Instructional Technologist is responsible for identifying and developing online and classroom technology training for faculty, staff and cross-departmental stakeholders, including developing a centralized electronic repository for uiuLearn (LMS) and classroom technology training documentation and videos. Electronic Services Librarian – Fayette, IA

Responsibilities:

Manages the library's electronic information resources, improving access to electronic resources, and provides technical support, including assistance with authentication, license agreements and payments. Provides faculty, students, and others access to and assistance in using electronic resources. Helps with the evaluation and acquisition of electronic resources. Maintains and makes accessible content files of electronic resources. Collects and reports appropriate user and system statistics and provides year-end reports. Assists department accounting unit as needed in maintaining subscription status, licensing information, and payments. Arranges trials of new resources and eBooks acquisitions.

Provides reference services as part of the reference team, including participation in the faculty-liaison program, co-teaching, providing selective in-class bibliographic training, and virtual reference.

Acts as technology resource for various library applications. Coordinating with the University IT unit as needed, implements various computer applications to update webpage content and design displays on the library's webpage, develops and produces Research Guides, and contributes to projects such as the development library Facebook and Twitter presence.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or its equivalent required; some experience with integrated library systems, preferably Voyager; knowledge of electronic information sources; ability to work effectively with a diverse population with many different levels of technical capability.

Graduate Assistant for Wellness - Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University is conducting a search to identify a Graduate Assistant for Wellness. The Graduate Assistant for Wellness is part of the Office of Student Life. Essential duties of the Graduate Assistant for Wellness are to:

  • Implement wellness-related programs and sessions for the student body; propose, plan, coordinate and run programs; plan monthly themed programs to include, but not be limited to, the issues of alcohol and drug abuse, AIDS, STis, birth control, tobacco, Alcohol Education Week, Wellness Extravaganza, and any other wellness issues as requested.
  • Design and conduct seminars/workshops on alcohol and drug abuse in the disciplinary process as needed as well as participate and coordinate the wellness council.
  • Relay and implement wellness programming pertinent to university students.
  • Assist with Orientation, Advising and Registration (OAR) days.
  • Train and advise Resident Assistants on wellness outreach.
  • Maintain an inventory and control of all wellness equipment and supplies.
  • Attend staff meetings and workshops.
  • Evaluate annually the wellness programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as a mentor to students of various multicultural backgrounds.

Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation Center Services - Fayette, IA

The Campus Recreation Graduate Assistant (GA) is a member of Student Life and is responsible for assisting the Director of Campus Recreation in day-to-day operations associated with the Recreation Center, Swimming Pool, and Intramurals programs. The graduate assistant reports to the Director of Campus Recreation.

Essential duties of the Graduate Assistant for Campus Recreation Center are to:

  • Propose, plan, coordinate, run and evaluate intramural programs.
  • Schedule facilities for the Intramural Program with close interaction and cooperation with community recreational leaders.
  • Familiarize and Implement risk management practices on all intramural programs, following UIU protocol for accidents and incidents that may occur.
  • Maintain student game room areas (Student Center/Garbee Hall).
  • Maintain and update the policies and procedures in the intramural handbook and other related documents.
  • Maintain and inventory intramural, recreation center, and pool equipment.
  • Communicate programming of the Recreation Center via university calendar, website, and social media outlets.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Continuously evaluate the intramural program and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Assist with other aspects of the Recreation Center, Swimming Pool, and Intramurals as needed.
  • Prepare an intramural event schedule to include a variety of sports that cater to our diverse student body.
  • Offer a minimum of 36 tournament Tuesday programs.
  • Provide recreational programming in conjunction with homecoming, family weekend, and special events.
  • Work collaboratively with other campus departments and other schools to promote intramural based programs.

Intensive English Program (IEP) Adjunct Instructor 

Upper Iowa University (Fayette, Iowa) continuously accepts applications for an Intensive English Program (IEP) Adjunct Instructor to teach a variety of intensive English courses from 2 to 18 hours per week during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Teaching load will depend on course demand and offerings will vary each semester. Duties include teaching a maximum of four IEP courses per semester, occasional advising of IEP students on courses, and occasional participation in leading IEP field trips to various locations in and out of Iowa.

A Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or other relevant fields required.
