Assistant Athletic Trainer Intern – Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University invites applications for three open Assistant Athletic Trainer Intern positions.  These are 10-month positions with a start date of August 1, 2017 and running through the end of May.

Responsibilities include assisting the Athletic Training Staff with all aspects of a NCAA Division II athletic training program. This includes but is not limited to: prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and administration of athletic injuries, travel with assigned teams (positions working with Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Volleyball/Softball), clinical preceptor of undergraduate athletic training students in a CAATE accredited program, and other duties assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance – Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance on the Fayette campus. The Assistant/Associate Athletic Director for Compliance is a member of the Department of Athletics senior staff reporting to and collaborating with the Director of Athletics on the day-to-day operation, management, and administration of the department. 

Establish and maintain a compliance program that will ensure proper transmission, administration, and interpretation of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), North Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC), Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA), and University policies and procedures to the department, student-athletes, alumni, and friends of the program. Develop and coordinate an education program for coaches, staff, and student-athletes that include processes for disseminating new rules information and interpretations. Develop, coordinate, and deliver a program for conducting rules and eligibility meetings for student-athletes. Respond to requests by University officials, coaches, staff, student-athletes, and others regarding rules clarification and interpretation. Monitor and audit rules compliance systems, policies, procedures, and practices.

Oversee the certification of initial and continuing athletics eligibility and financial aid for student-athletes. Serve as the University’s principal investigator for all alleged violations in accordance with applicable NCAA and NSIC rules, policies and procedures. Assist and advise the Director of Athletics in establishing departmental goals and objectives, program policies and procedures, operations, personnel, determining solutions, and implementation of administrative procedures. Administration and supervisory oversight of assigned athletic programs and functional area. Assist the Director of Athletics in identifying and managing issues impacting the Athletic Department’s reputation, image, and public relations. Serve on department and University committees as needed.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of four (4) years of professional experience with intercollegiate athletic administration is preferred. Must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Must be highly motivated, an energetic self-starter, have sound judgment and decision-making ability along with attention to detail.

Instructor of Psychology – Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University invites applications for a non-tenure, full-time one-year position in Psychology at the Fayette Campus beginning in August 2017. Responsibilities include teaching eight courses per year in a 2-2-2-2, eight-week term system, advising, and service on university committees.

Courses that will likely be included in the teaching rotation include: General Psychology, Human Sexuality, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Biological Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Issues & Ethics, and Skills & Strategies. A Ph.D. is required. While all areas of expertise will be considered, a generalist who can teach a wide array of lower and upper level courses is preferred. Instructional Designer II—Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University is seeking a full-time Instructional Designer II for the Andres School of Education, located in Fayette, IA.  This position supports faculty, subject matter experts, and others to create a high quality learning environment. The Instructional Designer is responsible for working collaboratively with faculty, subject matter experts and cross-departmental stakeholders in the design, development and on-time delivery of high-quality online courses. Drama Director - Fayette, IA

Graduate Assistant for Wellness - Fayette, IA

Upper Iowa University is conducting a search to identify a Graduate Assistant for Wellness. The Graduate Assistant for Wellness is part of the Office of Student Life. The ideal candidate will be outgoing, self-motivated, creative, and personable. The Graduate Assistant reports to the Director of Counseling and Wellness.

Essential duties of the Graduate Assistant for Wellness are to:

  • Implement wellness-related programs and sessions for the student body; propose, plan, coordinate and run programs; plan monthly themed programs to include, but not be limited to, the issues of alcohol and drug abuse, AIDS, STis, birth control, tobacco, Alcohol Education Week, Wellness Extravaganza, and any other wellness issues as requested.
  • Design and conduct seminars/workshops on alcohol and drug abuse in the disciplinary process as needed as well as participate and coordinate the wellness council.
  • Relay and implement wellness programming pertinent to university students.
  • Assist with Orientation, Advising and Registration (OAR) days.
  • Train and advise Resident Assistants on wellness outreach.
  • Maintain an inventory and control of all wellness equipment and supplies.
  • Attend staff meetings and workshops.
  • Evaluate annually the wellness programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as a mentor to students of various multicultural backgrounds.
  • Represent the Office of Student Life in relevant university committees, as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Graduate Assistant for Wellness must have strong writing and organizational skills, demonstrated ability to lead groups, strong communication skills, the ability to supervise others, as well as the ability and willingness to network with community partners.
